Botafogo's fans plead for dismissal of head coach

One day after Botafogo's embarrassing 2-1 loss to the 2011 Brazilian Championship's worst team Atletico-PR, fans are demanding the dismissal of head coach Caio Junior.

Botafogo has gone four games without winning. Over the team's previous four games, Botafogo has lost twice and tied twice.

The request of Caio Junior's firing tallied second among Tweets in Brazil, trailing only the statements regarding the death of musician Amy Winehouse.

Early prospects to fill the position of Caio Junior include Cuca. However, Botafogo's general manager Anderson Barros has a bitter relationship with the coach and is likely to overlook the possibility of his hiring despite Botafogo's fans empathy for the coach.

Caio Junior was signed to lead Botafogo in March of 2011. An official decision by club president Mauricio Assumpcao is expected to be revealed on Monday regarding the permanence or removal of Caio Junior as the club's head coach.

Currently, Botafogo stands in eighth place with 16 points.
